Argentinian meat is at the height of its reputation, it is tender and has the real taste of meat. Essentially, it is beef that has been reared on the plains of the Pampas. When you come to Argentina, you are sure to be invited to an 'asado', a barbecue of meat, outside in the garden or even inside. You may even be served the delicious, traditional dish of 'empanadas'; patties cooked in the oven or fried and filled with seasoned meat, vegetables or cheese. For dessert, try the 'dulce de leche', a type of milk jam which looks like caramel and the succulent 'alfajores' that can be found in the cake shops. As for wines, whether its red wine from Mendoza or San Juan or white wine from Cafayate, the choice is broad and Argentinian wine has no reason to be envious of the European grapes.
