Traditional music and dance in Armenia Armenian culture has retained its unique identity thanks to the dances and the music played with specific instruments, such as the duduk and the zurma. © Herve Collart-Hoa Qui
Music forms part of the Armenian artistic sensibility. Both vocal and instrumental, it is still inspired by the musician-poets who crossed the country to perpetuate the tradition. The Wuma (a small trumpet), the Tar and the Oud (guitars) and several other antique instruments are still used by contemporary musicians and composers.
