The Sardarabat memorial

Sardarabat, 16 miles from Etchmiadzine, in the Ararat valley, is a giant monument erected to the memory of the battle from 22 to 26 May 1918 which enabled the Armenians to repulse the Turkish invaders. It consists of an engraved wall, showing war scenes. A tower 115 feet high holds a clock which is activated only once a year.
