There are three autochtonous rare and protected flowers: the columbine, valerian and the edelweiss, together with the Lilium, a very rare plant, and the "yellow rose" from Lendorf. Occupy yourselves by locating these species while walking in the high mountains. They hide amongst the heather and lichens. As well as these plants that have an astonishing capacity for survival and hold their own against algae and fungus, the glacier ranunculus is the flower that is found at highest altitude. This delicate plant, with a yellow heart and white corolla is a small marvel to observe (without picking it, of course).
