The island of New Providence has earned the popularity as a must to pass by and see for any visitor from abroad. Despite its extremely modest size - 145 miles², the island is home to 2 / 3 of the population concentrated around Nassau. A city constructed to a human scale, the capital still has many colonial houses and relics telling its British past. It also offers a strange mix of mercantilism with American and English atmosphere and tropical nonchalance. You should quickly visit the city, including the main thoroughfare, Bay Street, which has been besieged by passengers on cruise ships who go there to stop regularly. The island of New Providence is not only essential from a practical point of view - its international airport serves as a hub for the company Bahamasair - but also because it is home to some beautiful beaches and attractions that deserve a look, Cable Beach, the local Riviera: a long beach lined with large hotel complexes. To the east of the capital, linked by a paid-crossing bridge, the small island of Paradise Island lies where one of the most spectacular hotels in the world is located: the Atlantis complex. This impressive building of 2,300 rooms is home to many aquatic attractions - parks, slides, marinas - particularly worth noting is the largest tropical aquarium on the planet, that you can visit without being necessarily staying at the hotel.

You can also visit the museum devoted to the masks and costumes of Junkanoo. The town also has several museums worth visiting: the Museum of Pirates, The Bahamas Historical Museum and the Pompey Museum. The Pompey Museum tells the story of slavery. Do not forget to visit the National Art Gallery.
