Managed by the Department of Archives and the Ministry of Education, this museum is dedicated to the history of slavery and emancipation. Housed in a building dating from the 18th and 19th century, it was restored when opened in 1992. All year round you can see several archaeological, artistic, and ethnographic collections here, illustrated by photos. The Bahamian artist Amos Fergusson exhibits his canvases here. The museum also has temporary exhibitions.
