The western coast, bathed by the Caribbean Sea, forms an uninterrupted line of beaches of fine white sand. Palm and coconut trees border this softly sloping coast, known for the calm of its transparent waters. Paynes Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches. Its success lies notably on its underwater diving activities. Barbados offers sheer coral reefs, sponges, and multi-coloured gorgonians. Its sea beds even hold some wrecks. Amongst them is a cargo ship more than 330 feet long. You can do several water sports at Holetown. The north of the town has a museum of the sea called Fokelstone Underwater Park. It organises underwater exploration of the coral reef. Have a picnic on Mullins beach. Speightstown beach has the best swimming conditions. This Caribbean coast, surrounded by villas and luxury hotels, has two golf courses. Sandy Lane, with 18 holes, is known as the most beautiful course in the archipelago. After this comes the Westmoreland.
