Flights
8 to 9hrs. Bridgetown is more than 4,000 mi from London. Flights operate from London Gatwick with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, via Frankfurt with Condor, and via Miami and New York with American Airlines.
Flights to Barbados are also operated by Air France or Air Caraïbes + LIAT (for inter-island flights) via Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
Since 1st November 2010, Condor has been operating two round trips a week on Monday and Friday between Frankfurt international airport and it counterpart in Bridgetown, the island's capital.

Airports
The Grantley Adams international airport is 9 miles from Bridgetown, costing 30 BBD in a taxi. You can also take the bus to reach the centre of the capital for 1.5 BBD.

Security
Towards Saint John's Parish Church, on the Eastern coast, the sea is often violent and unpredictable. On the beaches, notice boards indicate the dangerous currents. Do not follow the example of the inhabitants, who do not necessarily respect the bathing instructions. In the evening, towards Saint Lawrence Gap, it is often a good idea to keep an eye on your personal belongings.

English is the official language while Bajan is the local dialect

Requirements
You must be in possession of a passport that is valid at at least six months after your return date. You must also be able to show a ticket for onward travel.

Religion
The people of Barbados follow different faiths but the majority of the population is Anglican (65%).

Currency
The currency is the Barbadian Dollar (BBD) and follows the rate of the US Dollar, which is also widely accepted here. Currency can be exchanged at banks, open from 8:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Thursday, and until 5:00pm on Fridays. Some branches open on Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm and there are also several bureaux de change. International credit cards such as American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa can be used at many ATM machines as well as in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Local transportation
You must have a valid national or international driving licence to drive in Barbados. For 10BBD you can obtain the compulsory local licence. Like in the UK, cars drive on the left-hand side of the road.

No particular vaccinations are required to travel to Barbados
