The most famous Belgian traditional furniture dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. It is made of oak, cherry, walnut or mahogany. Its style is defined by simple shapes with, depending on the epoch, inlaid ironwork, bas reliefs, or carved borders. Sideboards, dressers, and chests of drawers are amongst the pieces that are most appreciated, together with, for decoration, copper foot warmers, enamelled pottery jugs, chests, low tables and stools.
