There are four coastal towns over 77.5 miles of coast: Cotonou, Porto Novo, Ouidah and Grand Popo. On several maps, Benin finishes at the Grand Popo crossroads. Actually, the country continues to the west, over 12.5 miles and several rows of coconut trees. Grand Popo is a village with a strange atmosphere, constructed on a lagoon between the sea and the river Mono, where some districts have been gradually engulfed by the water.
