The interior of the country is defined by plateaux reaching 656 feet. The savannah and the forests constitute reserves. The north-west is occupied by the Atakora chain of mountains, and the reserves of the Pendjari and the W. The highest point in the region is mount Sagdarao at 2,158 feet. In the reserves, do not miss the Tanougou waterfalls at the foot of the Atakora, the Kota falls, and the panoramic site of Koussou-Kouangou.
