Benin was previously known as the "Latin quarter" of Africa, due to the considerable number of intellectuals from this country. This is expressed through the presence of several museums, some of which are of very good quality. The Ethnographic Adandé museum in Porto Novo has an extremely unusual collection of objects (masks, arms, musical instruments, statuettes). The Ouidah museum tells the story of slavery through photos and objects. You must not miss a visit to the old palaces of the kings of Abomey that are of real historical interest, however, the most beautiful pieces are in the Museum of Mankind, in Paris...
