Hamilton

Hamilton Hamilton, Bermuda Founded in 1790, Hamilton is the capital of the overseas territory of Bermuda © Philip Plisson/Hoa Qui

Quite concentrated, Hamilton is the capital of Bermuda. Founded 200 years ago, it does not lack historical centres of interest. The main colonial buildings to visit are concentrated near to Front Street, which runs alongside the port. On the way, you can admire numerous Victorian houses in pastel shades that will no doubt remind you of England. Begin by Fort Hamilton, whose fortifications dating from the middle of the 19th century allow you to admire the whole of the town. You will then visit the government buildings: the Parliament Session House, the Senate Cabinet Building, and the Town Hall, which is open to the public. There, you will see that you are in a British colony, as the members of the High Court continue to wear the black robe and traditional English wig.
