Religion
Christians belonging to different churches: 28% Anglican, 15% Roman Catholic, 12% Methodist and Adventist.

Currency
The currency is the Bermudian Dollar (BMD) which follows the rate of the US Dollar. US Dollars are widely accepted in restaurants, shops and hotels. To avoid paying commission, it is best to come with USD travellers cheques which you will be able to exchange in banks and bureaux de change. You can also pay by MasterCard or American Express in the larger hotels, restaurants and shops. The Bank of Bermuda has about fifteen ATM machines which accept Visa cards, and most of them are available 24 hours a day. Banks are open from 9:30am to 3:00pm from Monday to Friday and from 9:30am to 3:00pm and 4:30pm to 5:30pm on Saturdays.

Local transportation
The main eight islands, divided into communes and connected by bridges, form a whole that extends over 28 miles from north to south, and is served by a good road network. It is therefore easy to travel around 'the island' as it is called here.
As foreigners are forbidden from driving, you will not find any hire cars. From 16 years of age, you can, nevertheless, hire a motorbike. The service stations are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Bermudians drive on the left and the speed is limited to 21 miles/h. You will find taxis in all the large towns. They all have metres, and can also be hired by the hour or the day. There is a supplement of 25% on the normal ride at night. To benefit from a real chauffeur-guide, take the taxis bearing a blue flag and certified by the department of tourism to drive around the archipelago.
The public buses are punctual, practical, and above all, a lot less expensive. They connect the main towns of the country. Departing from Hamilton, the major centre for public transport, you should allow for a bus journey of half an hour to reach St-George, and 45 minutes to reach Somerset. Have the right money ready before getting on the bus. At the Hamilton bus terminal, you will find a map and the bus timetables, and can also buy a Pass, valid from 3 to 7 days, on the buses and ferries. Transport by ferry, just as practical, gives you a good view of the coasts. They only serve connections in the south of the archipelago, between Hamilton, Paget, Warwick, Somerset and Ireland Island (region of Dockyard).

Health
No vaccine required, but it is recommended to update your vaccinations against diphtheria, poliomyelitis and tetanus. It is also recommended to have your vaccines against typhoid and hepatitises A and B done.
In your suitcase, don't forget sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. In Bermuda, the water is drinkable. Beware of Portuguese Man O'war also known as blue bubbles, ( tiny zooplankton animals); that can sting you when swimming. Usually it is not serious but it is better to go and see a doctor.

Electricity
110 V and 60 Hertz, just like in the United States?, with two-pin plugs. An adaptor/power transformer is necessary.

Flood of tourists
Around 420,000 visitors annually, mostly American (85%).

Taxes and tips
Hotels add 7,5 % of taxes to the bill, to which you should add 10 % for the service. As for restaurants, they generally include 15 % of service taxes (when this is not mentioned, it is custom to leave a tip of the same amount). Finally, taxis will gladly accept a 10 % tip.

Telephone
To call Bermuda from London, dial 00 + 1 + 441 (country code) + the number.
When making a domestic call in the interior of the country, the number of the other party should be preceded by 29 or 23, depending on the region.
From Bermuda to London: 00 44 20 + the number.
