Previously known as the "Valley of Medicinal Herbs", Bhutan will surprise botanists with its impressive range of flora: 350 medicinal plants and more than 5,000 varieties of listed plants. In the forests, you frequently find plants reaching several feet high, such as the giant rhubarb; you should come in the springtime if you want to fully benefit from the flowering of rhododendrons, magnolia and juniper.
