Lake Titicaca Sandra Salvado / age fotostock
The great Bolivian lakes are located on the Altiplano. The most famous, Lake Titicaca, one hour from La Paz and easy to access, is a destination in itself. At 12,496ft, the largest lake in Latin America is also the highest navigable lake in the world. This sacred lake holds more than thirty islands, which you can visit by borrowing one of the boats from the villagers at Huatajata. Incredible as it may seem, you will even find a yachting club there.
