The hill of Apparitions

The famous Hill of Apparitions is near the town of Medugorje, and has become the subject of religious tourism that has developed even more rapidly than a seaside resort. In June 1981, six adolescents living in a village to the southwest of Medugorje witnessed the miraculous appearance of the Virgin Mary. The economic boom then began. Guided coach driven visits, tax-free shopping, travel agencies, souvenir stalls, restaurants and traffic jams become daily life for this small town. Atheists, abstain!
