Francistown

Francistown, nicknamed the 'Capital of the North', was created when the Monarch mine opened. The city prospered in the 1970's, when copper and nickel deposits were discovered, and it is now the country's second largest city. Its location, some 56 miles from Zimbabwe, makes it a handy place to stop for a break from driving.
