Gaborone, Botswna Gabarone is the capital of Botswana Vladimira Dvorakova / age fotostock;
There are no historical buildings in Gaborone and the city only really started to grow in the 1960's, transforming considerably when large diamond deposits were discovered. The best way to enjoy day-to-day urban life here is out on the city's streets, where the 'joie de vivre' of the inhabitants makes for a great street atmosphere. All around you is undiluted African charm. There are a few sites of interest in the town, however, including the National Museum and the Gaborone Game Reserve, which was created by the Ministry for Nature in 1980 and is home to a great variety of birds and mammals (kudu, impala, jackals, etc.).
