Well worth a visit! Head down the Costa Verde to Paraty, which is 149 miles south of Rio and has a treasure trove of preserved colonial architecture. Praça da Matriz, a square lined by houses and a yellow neo-classical church, is the must-see feature on anyone's first visit. Continue along Praia Street, which occasionally floods at high tide, and you will find the baroque church of Santa Rita. Further south you will find beaches like Trinidade beach in Serra da Bocaïna National Park.
