The town of Koprivchtitsa is located in the Sachtinska Sredna Gora Mountains, 1050 meters above sea level, and 68 miles to the south-east of Sofia. This is partly a museum town, where more than 250 types of architecture dating from the 19th century have been preserved. Amongst these houses is the home of the leader of the April Uprising, Georgi Benkovski, or the home of Dimtcho Debelianov, one of the best known Bulgarian lyrical poets. The town is also the point of departure for numerous excursions in the Sachtinska Sredna Gora mountains.
