Bulgaria has European-type wildlife. In total, more than 13,000 species live together in the country. Some of them are threatened with extinction. The community of tortoises, for example, is rapidly diminishing due to the traffic. Although seldom seen, a few bears live in the mountains, far from habitation. You can also find roe deer, wolves, and red deer. The ornithological and aquatic wildlife is very rich. The only negative point is perhaps the presence of a large number of mosquitoes, which although small, are quite aggressive.
