Bobo-Dioulasso, the second largest city in the country and the economic capital, is usually very popular with travellers. You can admire the station there, a relic of Moorish-inspired colonial architecture in the 30s, the old districts of Kibidoué and Sya with their houses made of earth, and of course the famous Banco mosque that holds its spiked minarets up so proudly. The big Bobo market is a spectacle in itself: everything is bought and sold there, in a joyful atmosphere. Craftsmen from the town collect by sectors of activity: do not miss going to Bolomakoté, to the south of the city, where the stringed instruments craftsmen live. The Koko district collects the dyers and bronze founders together, while the traditional weaving workshops can be visited at Diaradougou.
