The African masks, which are very present in Burkina-Faso, form part of their art and culture. Actually, they are generally real works of art, sculpted by talented craftsmen. However, it is important to note that the masks are never made for decorative purposes, but only to be associated with animistic rites. The Bobo masks, for example, are for the large annual purification festivities of the villages, and are destined to obtain rain and abundant harvests.
