As everywhere in Asia, never touch a child's head (it is the noble part of the body), and never touch or designate anything or anyone with the foot (it is the "base" part of the body). In Cambodia you do not shake hands; you greet people with a friendly prayer gesture by joining the palms of the hands at your chest or lower face, fingers upwards. You do not greet people with a kiss either... Old people should always be treated with consideration and respect. Do not shock the Cambodians, who are modest, by revealing the body too generously (short skirts, low necks, etc.), even if it is very hot. When eating, do not put your fingers in contact with your mouth; that is what the chopsticks are for. When you are served by someone (food, drink), you do the same for them. Finally, bargaining is always welcomed; it is as much an element of socialisation as an instrument for commercial negotiation.
