Sihanoukville, the only port in the country, located in the south, gives a curious impression of dispersion, with its settlement very broken up over a large area, amongst pleasant scenery of wooded hills. The town's atmosphere, however, is lively and pleasant along the few large avenues with hotels, restaurants and markets, giving an appearance of simplicity and Mediterranean carefreeness. Considerable choice of beaches. However, nothing like the beaches of Thailand.
