The southern part has a very pleasant coastal region (provinces of Kampot and Koh Kong). Numerous families from Phnom Penh go there at the week-end to benefit from the sea. The ideal diving place is Sihanoukville, the only deepwater sea port. From there, you can easily get into the surrounding areas and, for example, take a walk around one of the numerous waterfalls scattered amongst the nearby hills. The sandy beaches are beautiful; peaceful and shady, and fishermen offer fresh fish and shellfish at very modest prices. Swimming is no problem, and the temperature of the water (25°C and more) is pleasant. You can complete your stay by visiting some of the numerous islands in a string off the coasts.
