Yaoundé © D.R.
Even though Yaoundé is not restful at all, the country's capital is popular amongst those who are interested in the culture and the many ethnic groups in the country. You actually come across quite a wide range of the different constituents of the Cameroonian population, particularly in the districts of Messa, Mokolo and Briqueterie. You must make an excursion to Mount Fébé and visit the Museum of Cameroonian Art in the Benedictine Monastery that houses a rich collection of African masks. On Sunday, go to mass in the parish of N'Djong Melem, which has moments of intense fervour.
