The climate varies completely in accordance with the latitude of the region. Winters from from mid-November to the end of March, are generally colder but sunnier than in Europe. Manitoba, however, has much harsher winters than Ontario. The average temperatures in Manitoba, in Churchill and Winnipeg, are -31 and -24°C, while it is only -8°C in Ottawa or Toronto, in Ontario. It snows in both provinces for around four months, and there are various possibilities for sporting activities. The summers, from end May to end August, are quite hot: up to 30°C. Autumn lasts two months. The Indian summer usually arrives towards the end of October. The return of summer temperatures only lasts an average of 4-5 days. Sometimes there is no Indian summer at all.
