The capital of the province of the same name, Quebec is notable for its authenticity, its architectural heritage, its Old Europe looks, and the friendliness of its inhabitants. This is an out of time city that even attracts the Americans! Its Upper Town, located on Cape Diamant, a 320 ft high promontory, overhangs the Saint Lawrence River and offers a magnificent view. Its small picturesque streets, punctuated by old residences, lead to two excellent museums: the museum of French America, and the Brousseau Museum of Inuit Art. The Chateau Frontenac, a gigantic building with the fairytale architecture of the Renaissance style, is one of the most important monuments in Quebec. Leaving from the Dufferin terrace, at the foot of the castle, you have to follow the Governors' walk along the citadel. It is impossible to finish the walk without walking around the ramparts; follow this with a few minutes rest in the magnificent Battlefields' Park, near the Saint Lawrence. Downtown, the Museum of Civilisation, the Royal Square, and Sous le Cap Street are all worth a visit.
