Off the Gaspésie, the Bonaventure Island has an ornithological reserve where puffins and cormorants live, amongst others. In August and September, whales and other marine mammals occupy the Saint Lawrence estuary. Hudson Bay is the land of the polar bear, while fishermen will find magnificent salmon on the approaches to the Anticosti Island.
