Cape Verde has a tropical Saharan climate. It is hot and dry most of the year. The dry season is from end-October to beginning July, with three months of strong winds between December and February (an excellent season for windsurfing professionals). The rainy season lasts from July to October. However, some islands have no rain for a few years, hence the existence of desert.
The average air temperatures vary between 22 and
28 °C, with the cooler temperatures in February, and the hotter in October. The ocean temperatures are 23-24 °C.
There is no real best season for visiting, apart from for the professional windsurfers: the trade winds period, from end November to February.
