An example of Alexandrian grouper The waters off the coast of the archipelago harbour countless species of fish © Ariel Fuchs
Cape Verde is very interesting and atypical, due to its underwater fauna and favourable conditions on the seafloor: tropical fish and migratory species, such as the parrot, gold blotch grouper, the grouper, the moray eel, the bonito, or the red carp, which you can see by diving. If you are lucky you may even get to see a sea turtle or two! There is also a good scene for competitive fishing, however, with tourism expanding, it is highy discouraged in order to maintain the marine diversity in Cape Verdean waters.
