Lake Chad was once the salt trading hub of Central Africa. Today, this muddy-water river is shrinking and depopulating at a worrying speed. It completely dried up in 1984! However, the season when the lake is at its best is between August and December. This is the best time to watch hippopotamuses and crocodiles.
