Climate China - Shanghai and the South

Roughly, the Yangtze River divides the country into two, horizontally: below the Tibet-Shanghai line the climate is very humid (monsoon in summer) and even sub-tropical in the southernmost provinces. The nights are cool in the mountains. The best season to visit varies, depending on the province being visited. For Guizhou, the best season is from April to June and October to November, while Yunnan is pleasant almost all year round.
While the sky is blue and sunny over the cold region of Peking in winter, the season from December to February is icy in Shanghai. The strong winds and drizzle can sweep the city for several days in a row. The summer is hot and humid, and the temperatures can easily reach 40°C.
Note: each year, between the months of July and September, the south coast of China is afflicted by an average of ten typhoons, distinguished by strong winds and heavy rainfall.
