You can find everything in the bazaars. In Kashgar you can buy hand-worked knives, embroidered or fur hats, and elaborate saddles. The Uyghur and Kirghiz artisans are famous for their work on copper and tin. There are reproductions of famous frescoes decorating grottoes and all sorts of pottery in Dunhuang. In the province of Gansu: Buddhist statuettes, inkwells, 'transparent' stone cutting and carpets are not lacking. Shop opening hours officially vary between 8:00 am or 8:30 am and 8:00 pm or 8:30 pm (and from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm in winter), but it is possible to find shops open until 9:00 pm.
