It was proved in the recent international festivals that the seventh Chinese art is currently holding pride of place. Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, Wu Ziniu, and Tian Zhuangzhuang are the most famous film-makers of the "fifth generation"; the first since the Cultural Revolution. Their films, "Wives and concubines", "Red Sorghum", "The Blue Kite" etc., have been very well received by foreign critics, granting a new opportunity to the local cinematographic industry.
