From Guilin, a day trip on a boat on the Lijiang River to Yangshuo (6h for 40 miles) is enjoyed by everyone. A magnificent panorama of the karstic hills rising out of the mist that have inspired so many painters and poets. It is a good idea to spend a night in Yangshuo, a small town appreciated by backpackers. You can hire a bicycle there to ride around the countryside and its rice fields that produce up to three harvests a year. Return by bus to Guilin in 2h.
