The historical village of M'Bé, the capital of the Makoko (King), the sovereign of the Batéké people, is 93 miles away north of the capital. The whole of the region is furrowed by rivers and small lakes (including the Blue Lake), with picturesque scenery, like the Valley of the Butterflies.
