 Shopping

The supermarkets, less opulent than in Europe, are regularly supplied. You can find everything here. All year, magnificent fruit and vegetables from small local producers are found on the markets (cherries in June; tomatoes, apricots and peaches in summer; tangerines in autumn. Few local crafts to bring home: Some ceramics from the island of Veli Iz and and elsewhere, olive oil and lavender bags. But various young artists sell their work around the tourist sites : jewellery, pottery, watercolours, small frames. On the Dolac market in Zagreb and in the region of Zagorje, you can find small useful objects made from white wood and even small, painted wooden toys. Some art galleries in Dubrovnik perpetuate a long tradition of Croatian naïve art.
Shops are open from 8:00 AM till 7:00 or 8:00 PM in the week, and from 8:00 AM till 3:00 PM Saturdays. Some shops stay open longer during the tourist season.
