On the eastern extremity of the island, near the Greek Cape, Ayia Napa is a fashionable seaside destination. It was constructed in one go to replace the resort of Famagusta, which is in now the area occupied by the Turks. From Ayia Napa, you can hire a small boat, and spend the day at sea in complete tranquility. Many of the hotels offer diving trips, but the Cypriot aquatic fauna is relatively poor.
