The Troodos mountains The Troodos mountain chain culminates at Mount Olympus, at 1,952 metres Carlos Rodrigues
In the south, the Troodos volcanic chain culminates at nearly 6,560 ft. This is an area covered by forest that is sometimes quite thick, hiding dozens of richly decorated chapels and small mountain villages. Enjoyed by the Cypriots in winter thanks to its ski slopes, the Platrès station is charming and offers numerous walks. The road stemming from Paphos, on the western coast, crosses splendid mountain scenery. There you will cross the valley of the Cedars, which flower between September and October. From the Troodos, you will be able to choose from four footpaths that go into the forest. The village of Omodos is one of the most typical in Cyprus, with its old monastery and its little streets bordered with stalls selling local produce such as honey and wine.
