On the west coast, the region of Paphos is one of the nicest coastal areas in Cyprus. Here you will find bustling tourist resorts, and sandy beaches (which are rare in Cyprus). It is also a good base camp from which to access the rest of the island. Near Paphos, the superb beach of Coral Bay is becoming more and more popular with tourists. Towards the south, on the road to Limassol, visit Pétro Tou Romiou, the birthplace of Aphrodite (the goddess of love).
