Bohemia and Moravia are swarming with castles, there are almost two thousand! Just in the area around Prague, you can see at least five: Troja, built on a roman villa, Zbraslav, Krivoklat, Konopiste and Karlstejn, a 19th century fortress perched on a hill, which has the reputation of being the country's most beautiful. However, you may prefer Litomysl, of Renaissance style with a small 19th century theatre and its intact stage decor, or Cervena Lhota's, seemingly out of a fairy tale, or the Cesky Krumlov richly furnished castle. Baroque and classical, Slavkov ?museum-castle' is known in Moravia especially for being the site where the battle of Austerlitz took place. A stone's throw away stands the Peace Monument, with a few objects dating from the war field for history enthusiasts.
