The Czech Republic could easily be dubbed the country of castles. These residences, of different styles and periods, overlook natural sites that, at the time, were chosen for their natural defenses; today their main interest resides in the fantastic views that they afford. Art and history enthusiasts will have much to see, especially since the monuments generally include works of art (the most famous being Charles Bridge) and splendid monasteries with rich interiors.
