The Danish love fish, especially smoked herring and marinated salmon, and the national dish is the Flaetkesteg (roast pork). You will taste the smorrebrod (a nourishing rye bread sandwich), or the Stjernesknd (toasted bread with fried plaice on top of fish eggs), not to be confused with Rollmops! Cheese amateurs will discover the blue cheese, a kind of fruited Roquefort, and the Wienebrod (sweet pastry, made with loads of cream and almond paste). This beer loving country is the country of Carlsberg and Tuborg, but also of Akvavit, a very strong spirit. It is also a very health conscious country and there are numerous restaurants which make meals especially for diabetics.
