Languages
Danish is the official language. Various regional dialects are also spoken.

Requirements
A valid identity card or passport are sufficient for European Union citizens.

Religion
87.7% of Danes are members of the Lutheran state church, the Danish National Church.

Currency
The official currency is the Danish Krone (DKK), which consists of 100 Ore. £1 Sterling = 8.25 DKK. Foreign currencies and travellers cheques are accepted by all banks and will enable you to benefit from a better exchange rate. Most international credit cards are accepted everywhere. It is possible to withdraw cash at the many ATM machines at banks, which open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm, and until 6.00pm on Thursdays.

Local transportation
A national driving licence is enough to rent a car. The speed limit on motorways (no toll) is 110 km/h (70 m/h), 80 km/h (50 m/h) on roads, and 50 km/h (30 m/h) in built up areas. Most of the international car rental companies are represented in Denmark. Depending on the model, it costs £60-100 per day, mileage not included. The minimum legal age to rent a car is 20 years old, but some companies have fixed it at 25 years old and most of them only accept credit card payments.
Cycling is the most popular means of transport in Copenhangen, and for a small deposit of £2.50, you can rent one free.
A bus and railway network function from 5:00 am to 12:30 am, and night buses work until dawn.
Kastrup International Airport is also the departure point for all flights to the 10 interior Danish airports, all less than one hour's flight away.
The railway network covers the entire country, with trains that are modern and fast, and at the same time offering various reductions. For example, from Copenhagen to Aarhus, it costs £30, and £21.50 to go to Odense in one and a half hours.
Adapted to the country's geography, the bus systems are limited to the capital, its surroundings and to the province of Nordjylland. The rates are fixed by zones (£1.40, wherever you go inside Copenhagen and free for children under 7 years old accompanied by an adult).
Danish hotels are generally expensive, but of a very high standard, and have offers for all kinds of budgets and desires. From rustic and comfortable countryside hostels, to room rentals in local houses or historical manors, the choice is large. Specialised tour operators and hotel chains such as Scandic, ProSkandinavia, or Best Western sell ?hotel cheques' that can reduce the price of the room by up to 50%. In Copenhagen, if you book a night through the Tourist Office for the same day, you will benefit from a 10 to 20% reduction.

Health
No vaccination is required. For treatment in the country in case of sickness or an accident, remember to get the European health care card. This card is individual, valid for one year, and works in all European Union countries. However, any foreigner residing in Denmark temporarily has the right to receive treatment and care for free in very well equipped hospitals and emergency services.
