Roseau

Roseau

Roseau Roseau Alamer / age fotostock;

Roseau has the outdated charm of old colonial towns, with its wooden houses, blinds and suspended balconies. Built on a square marked plan, the town offers numerous sites of interest including a walk around the Vieux Centre (Old Centre), a visit to the Dominican Museum to learn more about the Dominican culture and population, or a stroll through the galleries of the covered Vieux Marché (Old Market), where the slave trade used to thrive. Admirers of exotic fauna and flora will also pay a visit to the Botanic Gardens, which not only have a beautiful bird cage full of birds, but a main attraction: a gigantic baobab tree, the same one which fell onto a bus during Cyclone David in 1959.
