At the southern centre of the island lies the Morne Trois Pitons National Park which will charm any nature lover with its 17,000 acres of forest. Various hikes are possible from Roseau, in the middle of vegetation that alternates between tropical and mountainous. A few miles east of the town, you will discover the wonderful waterfalls of the Trafalgar Falls and the even wilder Middleham Falls, which have a pool that you can swim in. Located at an altitude of 3,280 ft, the Fresh Water Lake is installed in one of the most ancient craters where various hydrothermal springs pour in, which explains the warm water. In contrast, 330 ft down, you will find the Boeri Lake where the water is always cold. However, the wildest part of Dominica is definitely the Valley of Desolation. With its grey mud baths and its boiling waters, it leads you directly to the world's second largest boiling water lake, aptly named The Boiling Lake.
