Dominica is an ornithological paradise with more than 162 different bird species. You might be able to see the two endangered parrots of the island: the Sisserou Parrot, the biggest Amazonian parrot which is 20 inches long, and the Red-necked Parrot endemic to Dominica. Also found on the island are two hummingbird species which are endemic to Dominica and Martinique: the Blue-headed Hummingbird and its female equivalent the White-throated Hummingbird. Finally, one other curiosity of this island is the presence of gigantic frogs that the indigenous call 'mountain chickens'.
